Viewers have been left emotional tonight after the BBC aired a special tribute to late TV icon Paul O'Grady, who died suddenly this week.

The classic episode from 1998, titled 'Lily Savage's Blankety Blank on BBC One, featured Davina McCall, Sir Ian Mckellen, Gray O'Brien, Rebecca Callard, Sophie Lawrence and Dale Winton. Blankety Blank is a British comedy game show which started in 1979 and is still running today. Two contestants compete, each attempting to match as many of the six celebrity panellists as possible in a series of fill-in-the-blank statements.

Paul O'Gradyhosted the revival of the show from 1997 to 2002. It has received several revivals since, hosted by David Walliams and Bradley Walsh.

The show featured the typical quick-wit and sharp nature of Paul's drag character, Lily Savage. She poked fun at the contestants during the introductions, noting them as "poor unfortunate souls" as the quiz show began.

Viewers celebrated Lily during the special tribute episode, with many taking to social media to express their condolences to the late TV icon, as well as late gameshow host, Dale Winton.
